EPDs

EPD

What are EPDs?

Environmental Product Declarations (EPDs) are standardised, independent and verified environmental product declarations. They are based on a comprehensive life cycle assessment (LCA) and provide transparent data on a product’s environmental impact – from raw material extraction through production to use and disposal. EPDs comply with international norms (including EN 15804) and are verified by independent bodies such as the IBU. They form a reliable basis for sustainable building decisions and certification schemes such as DGNB, LEED or BREEAM.

Benefits of EPDs for different target groups

Architects & Planners
For architects and planners, EPDs are an essential tool for assessing the sustainability of materials. They enable:

  • well-informed material decisions based on verified environmental data
  • support in the planning of sustainable buildings
  • easy integration into building certification schemes (e.g. DGNB, LEED)
  • Comparability of different products

Construction companies
Construction companies benefit particularly during the execution and tendering phases:

  • clear evidence of environmental requirements in tenders
  • reduction of risks through transparent product data
  • better positioning in sustainable construction projects
  • support with ESG and sustainability targets

Wholesalers and fabricators
For this group, EPDs offer a key competitive advantage:

  • increased credibility with customers
  • clear differentiation in the market through verified sustainability data
  • support in advising customers and project partners
  • access to projects with sustainability requirements

Fitness chains and fitness centre operators
Sustainability and transparent materials are also becoming increasingly important in the fitness sector:

  • Demonstration of sustainable flooring solutions to customers and investors
  • Support in implementing sustainable studio concepts
  • Improvement of brand image through environmentally conscious decisions
  • Contribution to ESG strategies and reporting requirements
